The Ohio State men’s lacrosse team (7-1) is ranked #10 in Division I play by Inside Lacrosse. On Sunday, the Buckeyes were in Colorado to take on the #20-ranked Denver Pioneers (4-3). It was OSU’s final non-conference game of the season.

The contest was a defensive struggle early with both teams scoring two goals in the first quarter. The Buckeyes broke it open in the second, scoring six times and taking an 8-3 lead into the break.

In the second half, the Pioneers edged Ohio State 8-7, but the Buckeyes never gave up the lead and won 15-11. OSU’s only loss so far this season came in their opening game to the Utah Utes in Columbus.

In Saturday’s tilt, senior Alex Marinier paced the Bucks with five goals, while seniors Ben Mayer and Ed Shean each scored twice. For Denver, sophomore Marek Tzagournis, a Dublin Jerome grad, led the Pioneers with three goals.

The Buckeyes begin Big Ten play next Sunday with a 7:30 p.m. game at Penn State. The Nittany Lions (6-1) are currently ranked fourth in the country.
