Jackets top Rangers for first win

The Columbus Blue Jackets hosted the New York Rangers Saturday, their second home game in three nights to open the 2023-24 season. After falling behind 1-0 when the Rangers scored early in the first period, the Blue Jackets posted the next four goals, including a hat trick by captain Boone Jenner, and held on for the 5-3 win. It was also the first NHL win for Jackets’ new head coach Pascal Vincent.

Jackets announce roster moves – (Oct. 14) The team has activated right wing Mathieu Olivier off Injured Reserve. Left wing Eric Robinson has been designated non-roster and placed on waivers for the purpose of assignment to the Cleveland Monsters, the club’s AHL affiliate.

Werenski placed on IR – (Oct. 13) The team has placed defenseman Zach Werenski on Injured Reserve and recalled defenseman David Jiricek from the Cleveland Monsters. Werenski suffered a quad contusion in the Jackets’ opener against Philadelphia and is expected to miss one to two weeks.
