On Friday afternoon, the United States Men’s National Team announced their 25-man January camp roster, led by former Columbus Crew head Gregg Berhalter. Berhalter has called in Columbus Crew players Aidan Morris, Sean Zawadzki, and Patrick Schulte.
This will be Morris’s second-time in the USMNT camp, with Zawadzki and Schulte earning their first with the senior squad. The training camp will run from January 8-16, in Orlando, Florida. The USMNT will travel to San Antonio, Tex. with an international friendly against Slovenia at Toyota Field on January 20.
Morris made his senior USMNT debut debut almost a year ago in a friendly against Serbia, and has four caps with the USMNT. The Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and homegrown Crew Academy product appeared in 30 regular season matches for the Club, scoring four goals and tallying seven assists. He started all six of the Crew’s playoff games, helping lead the Crew to their third MLS Cup in franchise history.
Sean Zawadzki appeared in a USMNT U-19 traiing camp back in January of 2019. This will be his first appearance with the senior team. Zawadzki made 30 appearances for the Crew, playing as a defender and midfielder, scoring three goals with two coming in second half stoppage time.
Patrick Schulte recently represented the USMNT at the U-18, U-20, and U-23 teams. He featured with the U-23 team for a training camp this past October. Now in his third year with the Club, Schulte made his senior team debut on the 2023 season opener against the Philadelphia Union before appearing in 31 regular season matches, tallying 90 saves and seven shutouts. During the post season, Schulte recorded two shutouts in six matches, and made four saves in the Eastern Conference Final and MLS Cup.
Morris and Schulte are now age eligible for the 2024 Summer Olympics. The trio join defender Steven Moreira as Crew players on international duty for their respective countries.
