The Indianapolis Indians evened their series with the Columbus Clippers at two games apiece with a 6-2 win Friday at Huntington Park. The Indians scored all of their runs before the Clippers got on the scoreboard and then held on for the victory.

Indianapolis posted three runs in the top of the first inning. The first came home on an RBI double from Henry Davis. Later in the inning, with the bases loaded and two outs, two Indians scored on a  throwing error by Columbus shortstop Gabriel Arias.

Indianapolis added single runs in the third, fourth, and sixth innings to take a 6-0 lead. The Indians did not employ a power game in Friday’s contest. Four of their six runs came on ground balls that did not leave the infield. The other two resulted from well-placed doubles.

The Clippers scored a run in the sixth inning and a run in the seventh inning. Angel Martínez knocked in Bryan Lavastida in the sixth on a fielders choice. The run in the seventh came on the first Triple-A homer from newly-promoted Chase DeLauter. DeLauter, a first round draft choice by the Cleveland Guardians in 2022, was called up from Akron on August 18th.

Thomas Harrington (2-1), in just his fourth Triple-A start, earned the win for the Indians. He went six innings, allowing only one run on two hits. He did not walk a batter and struck out six. The loss went to Triston McKenzie (2-3).

Columbus and Indianapolis play again Saturday with the first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. Ryan Webb (1-0) will make his third start for the Clippers. In his 11 innings of Triple-A work since being called up, he has allowed only one run. Aaron Shortridge (1-2) will take the mound for the Indians.
