Five CBUS-area college teams took to the field Saturday, but none could come up with a win. Here’s a summary of what happened:

WINSTON-SALEM STATE 19, OHIO DOMINICAN 13 (OT)
The Ohio Dominican Panthers (1-1) traveled to North Carolina for a non-conference game Saturday with the Winston-Salem State Rams (2-1). The Panthers tied the game at 13-13 with 10:31 left in the fourth quarter, but fell in overtime to the Rams. ODU quarterback Drew Gallehue was 33-50 for 274 yards and a touchdown. Wide receiver Dimitri Mitsopoulos had 11 catches for 108 yards.

CATHOLIC 38, CAPITAL 20
The Capital Comets (0-1) opened their season with a non-conference game against the Catholic Cardinals (1-1) in Washington D.C. The Comets scored first on a two-yard pass from Ben Owens to Simon Smith, a Thomas Worthington grad. Owens finished the day 30-42 for 312 yards, with three TDs. One of the other scoring throws went to Watkins Memorial’s Nate Younkers, who had seven catches for 92 yards.

MUSKINGUM 24, OTTERBEIN 7
The Otterbein Cardinals (0-2) were on the road for the second straight week, playing the Muskingum Fighting Muskies (2-0) in New Concord in an OAC matchup. Unioto alum Matt Griffin had a career-high 121 yards on 22 carries and scored a touchdown. Cayden Lassiter, a North Union grad, was 10-20 for 130 yards. Watterson’s Carson Blank punted well for Otterbein, with a 50-yard boot among six attempts.

WABASH 30, OHIO WESLEYAN 13
The Ohio Wesleyan Battling Bishops (1-1) were in Crawfordsville, Ind. Saturday to take on the Wabash Little Giants (2-0) in NCAC play. Bishop quarterback Kaden Buza was 28-48 for 343 yards and two touchdowns. Granville’s Devon Haley and Big Walnut’s Nate Severs each had 44 yards rushing for Ohio Wesleyan. OWU’s offense outgained the Little Giants 425 to 285 yards but turnovers and red-zone stops halted drives.

ALMA 38, DENISON 30
The Denison Big Red (0-2) hosted the #15-ranked Alma Scots (2-0) in Granville Saturday in an OAC contest. The Big Red scored 21 points in the fourth quarter but needed one more end zone trip to come back all the way against the Scots. Denison freshman QB Tyler Green had a good game going 28-42 for 320 yards and three scores. Fisher Catholic’s Trey Fabrocini ran for 109 yards on 22 carries for Denison.
