Four local basketball teams headed to state tourney

This year’s OHSAA boys basketball regional finals were all completed by Sunday evening. Going to the final four at the University of Dayton over the next two weeks are: Olentangy Orange (DI), Reynoldsburg (DI), Westerville North (DII), and Columbus Academy (DV).

Regional final results and state tournament information:

DIVISION I

Olentangy Orange 67, Groveport 53 (Wittenberg University) 

Reynoldsburg 98, Olentangy Liberty 91 (2OT) (Taft Coliseum)

STATE TOURNAMENT:

Cleveland St. Ignatius (22-4) vs. Lewis Center Olentangy Orange (24-2), Sunday, Canton Field House, noon

Reynoldsburg (25-1) vs. West Chester Lakota West (21-5), Sunday, Wright State University Nutter Center, noon

State Championship: Saturday, March 22, at University of Dayton Arena, 8:30 p.m.

DIVISION II

Westerville North 79, Big Walnut 50 (Taft Coliseum)

North Royalton 38, New Albany 35 (College of Wooster)

STATE TOURNAMENT:

Massillon Perry (13-13) vs. North Royalton (25-1), Sunday, Canton Field House, 3 p.m.

Westerville North (23-2) vs. Toledo St. Francis de Sales (16-9), Sunday, Wright State University Nutter Center, 6 p.m.

State Championship: Friday, March 21, at University of Dayton Arena, 7:30 p.m.

DIVISION III

Louisville 52, Bishop Hartley 45 (Taft Coliseum)

DIVISION IV

Maysville 66, River Valley 54 (Ohio University)

Gates Mills Hawken 63, Jonathan Alder 58 (Bowling Green State University)

DIVISION V

Columbus Academy 66, Bishop Ready 39 (Ohio Dominican University)

STATE TOURNAMENT:

Cleveland Heights Lutheran East (23-4) vs. Minford (25-1), Saturday, at St. Clairsville ECO Center, 4 p.m.

Gahanna Columbus Academy (27-0) vs. Cincinnati Summit Country Day (16-8), Friday, Wittenberg University, 8:30 p.m.

State Championship: Saturday, March 15, at University of Dayton Arena, 10:45 a.m.

– Olentangy Orange’s victory over Groveport was head coach Anthony Calo’s 200th career win
– Olentangy Orange and Reynoldsburg are going to the state tournament for the first time in their history
– Westerville North returns to the final four for the first time since 1996; it’s been since 1981 for Columbus Academy 
– Westerville North senior Tai Perkins, an Akron commit, had 17 of his 32 points in the first quarter of Saturday’s regional final
– Columbus Academy, at 27-0, is the only remaining CBUS-area team with an undefeated record
