The Columbus Fury (5-14) traveled to Grand Rapids, Mich. for a match against the Rise (8-11) Friday. The Fury won the fourth set to send it to a fifth, but the Rise won the tie-breaker 15-13 to take the match.

After trailing 15-11 in the first set, the Fury came back to win it 25-22. Grand Rapids took the next two sets, 25-23 and 25-22. The Rise took a 5-1 lead in the fourth set, but Columbus fought back to tie the match at 18-18. The Fury ended up with a 25-22 edge.

In the deciding fifth set, once again Grand Rapids took an early lead, 3-0. And once again, Columbus tied the set, this time at 11-11. The Rise took over after that and secured the match, 15-13.

The Fury’s Izabella Rapacz led all players with 23 kills. Newcomer Nootsara Tomkom recorded 44 saves to pace the Fury. Libero Paula Cerame had 21 digs. Captain Megan Lush had a good all-around match with two aces, five kills, and 13 digs.

Columbus stays on the road for a Sunday match in Atlanta against the Vibe (13-8), who have a seven-game winning streak going. The first serve at the Georgia State Convocation Center is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. All of the action can be seen on YouTube.
