The Ohio State softball team (32-10-1, 10-5) fell at Penn State (20-19, 6-6) Saturday to even their weekend series at a game apiece. The final score, in an abbreviated five-inning game, was 11-2, Nittany Lions.

The Buckeyes scored two runs in the first inning to take a quick lead. Both runs were solo home runs from Hadley Parisien and Jasmyn Burns. OSU has now hit 101 long balls this season. Burns leads the team with 20 homers, while Parisien is next with 14.

Ohio State managed only two hits after that, singles from Reagan Milliken and Taylor Cruse. Penn State scored single runs in the first and second innings to tie the game. The Nittany Lions took off with five runs in the third, including a grand slam, and four in the fourth.

Penn State’s Abigail Britton (6-8) earned the win, going 4.2 innings. Mady Volpe came in and got the last out in the fifth. Ohio State’s Kennedy Kay (9-3) suffered only her third loss of the season.

Shortstop Kami Kortakrax, a Bishop Hartley alum, started her 200th consecutive game for the Buckeyes. Kortakrax is the 19th player to participate in 200 games for OSU. Nicole Paloney holds the program record with 236 games played.

The teams wind up their three-game series Sunday at Nittany Lion Softball Park. The first pitch is slated for noon.
