The Ohio State baseball team (10-27) hosted the Akron Zips (13-27) Tuesday at Bill Davis Stadium in a non-conference game. The Buckeyes scored three runs in both the first and second innings and never looked back, beating the Zips, 11-5.
The top two hitters in Buckeyes’ lineup, Trey Lipsey and Matthew Graveline, each hit a home run to power the offensive attack. Lipsey drove in three runs and scored three times to lead Ohio State. Six Buckeye batters were hit with a pitch in the contest.
In his first start of the season, Douglas Bauer (1-1) earned his first win. He went four innings and allowed only one run on three hits. Zak Sigman tossed two scoreless innings to finish the ballgame for OSU.
The Buckeyes play another non-conference affair Wednesday at Bill Davis Stadium. The Toledo Rockets (16-23) are in town with the first pitch scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
