The Ohio State softball team (43-11-1) finished up their regular season with a 4-1 win at Illinois Saturday to take the series with the Illini (22-28) two games to one. As is emblematic of this year’s offensive attack, the Buckeyes’ runs came on a pair of two-run homers, one from Caitlyn Farley, the other from Emma Tolley.

Junior pitcher Kennedy Kay (13-3) went all the way for the win.  She gave up only three hits and one walk in her seven innings of work. The Bucks won all six of their three-game weekend series this season, posting a 7-4 record on the road against Big Ten competition.

Ohio State now heads to the Big Ten tournament as the #4 seed. They open tourney play, which will be hosted by Purdue in West Lafayette, Ind., on Thursday, May 8 at 7:00 p.m. The Buckeyes will play the winner of the Purdue (#12) and Northwestern (#5) contest to be played Wednesday.
