The Columbus Clippers had righted the ship coming into Friday’s match-up with the Toledo Mud Hens. The Clips had put together a three-game winning streak after losing their previous seven outings. Toledo ended the streak Friday, however, beating Columbus, 8-3, at Huntington Park.

The Mud Hens scored four runs against Columbus starter Parker Messick (3-2) in his five innings of work. Messick struck out seven, but two of the five hits he gave up were home runs. He was charged with the loss, his first since April 22. Reliever Nick Mikolajchak allowed three runs, while Matt Krook surrendered one.

The Clippers’ offense posted six hits on the evening, with Petey Halpin knocking out two of them, including his team-leading fourth triple. Halpin also drove in a run. Brayan Rocchio hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning, his sixth long ball since rejoining the team on May 12.

Columbus and Toledo play the fifth game of their six-game series on Saturday beginning at 7:05 p.m. Two left-handers will start for their respective clubs,  Ryan Webb (2-4, 5.60) for the Clippers and Nick Margevicius (3-1, 2.61) for the Mud Hens.

EXTRA BASES: The Cleveland Guardians called up Columbus catcher Dom Nuñez Friday after placing catcher Austin Hedges on the 7-day IL, retroactive to Thursday, with a concussion.
