DIVISION I
Olentangy Liberty 9, Upper Arlington 8 (2OT)
The Olentangy Liberty and Upper Arlington girls lacrosse teams know each other well. Besides regular season match-ups, they have played each other the last three years in the OHSAA state finals. UA won the title in 2023, while the Patriots grabbed the championship last season.
At Historic Crew Stadium Saturday, Liberty beat the Golden Bears 9-8 in double-overtime to defend their crown. After being tied at halftime, Upper Arlington took a 7-5 lead after three quarters. The Patriots rallied and Madeline Pohmer, a Cornell commit, scored a goal with eight seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime.
In the first overtime, Golden Bear goalie Tori Maurer saved two shot attempts, while her opposite number, Evie Howenstine, stopped one try. The game continued into a second OT period. With 1:27 left, Corinna Hilmas scored to give the Patriots a hard-fought, 9-8, victory.

DIVISION II
DeSales 15, Hathaway Brown 9
The DeSales Stallions were looking to repeat as Division II state champions Saturday afternoon at Historic Crew Stadium. Last season, they beat Bay High School 14-7 for their third state title. On Saturday, they faced Shaker Heights Hathaway Brown. Both teams came into the contest with only one loss on the season.
The Stallions took an early lead, but the Blazers scored six times in the second period to knot the score, 6-6, at halftime. DeSales outscored Hathaway Brown 9-3 the rest of the way to nail down the 15-9 win. Senior Campbell Heald, a Brown commit, scored seven goals to pace DeSales. Freshman goalie Mackenzie Kitchen posted six saves.
