After capturing their first series in a month, the Columbus Clippers began a six-game road set with the Buffalo Bisons Tuesday. Will Wilson returned to the Clippers lineup Tuesday, after having been assigned to Columbus by the Cleveland Guardians. He wasted no time in making an impact, hitting two home runs in the club’s 4-3 victory.

Wilson was back with the Clips after being called up by the parent club on April 22. His hot start in Columbus earned him a promotion, but he was unable to translate that success to his first trip to the Big Leagues, hitting just .176 in 24 games with the Guardians. With his two homers Tuesday, he is hitting .333 this season with Columbus.

Clippers pitcher Aaron Davenport, in his fourth Triple-A start, had his best outing, going five innings and giving up just one run on three hits. He has yet to figure into a decision. On Tuesday, the Bisons scored a run in the first. After a Wilson two-run homer in the second inning,  Buffalo scored two runs in the sixth to take a 3-2 lead.

Columbus tied the score in the seventh on Wilson’s second long ball. In the ninth, the Clippers took the lead on a Kody Huff double that plated C.J. Kayfus. In the bottom of the ninth, Nick Mikolajchak retired the three batters he faced to earn his fourth save. Reliever Matt Krook (1-0), who pitched two scoreless innings, earned his first win.

The teams play game two of their series Wednesday beginning at 6:35 p.m. Doug Nikhazy (3-3, 4.73) will take the mound for Columbus, while Lazaro Estrada (1-3, 5.06) will get the start for Buffalo.
