Unlike the previous Saturday’s match in Cincinnati, when the Columbus Crew came from 2-0 down to win on the road, the Black & Gold found themselves behind early at Nashville Wednesday. Unable to mount a comeback this time around, Columbus fell 3-0 at Geodis Park.

Nashville’s first score came just 61 seconds into the match on a Crew own goal. Nashville’s Alex Muyl appeared to be sending a pass across the front of the goal from close range and it caromed off Sean Zawadzki’s chest, as he rushed deep into the box to defend, and into the net.

Nashville scored its second goal in the 30th minute when Hany Mukhtar took a pass near the right post from Sam Surridge and touched it home. They scored their final goal in the 82nd minute. Surridge battled to take possession in the middle of the box off a pass from Ahmed Qasam and made it 3-0.

The Crew were shutout for the first time since falling to Inter Miami, 1-0, on April 19 in Cleveland. The loss moved the Black & Gold back into fourth place in the MLS Eastern Conference, five points behind leader Philadelphia. Nashville moved three points ahead into the third spot. Cincinnati is in second.

Columbus returns to Lower.com Field Saturday for a match with D.C. United. The kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
