The Ohio State women’s and men’s soccer teams were in action Thursday and both came away with victories.

Ohio State 4, Princeton 1 (Women)

The Buckeye women (2-1-1) were on the road for their third straight match after a trip last weekend to the Carolinas. Thursday’s contest was in New Jersey against the Princeton Tigers (0-2-1).

The Scarlet and Gray found themselves behind at halftime, 1-0, but stormed back in the second half to come away with a 4-1 win. Amanda Schlueter opened the OSU scoring in the 56th minute with a penalty kick goal. Five minutes later, the Bucks took the lead on an Elle Britt goal, assisted by Schlueter.

Ohio State added scores from Jacinda Bonham (assist: Jaden Bonham) and Ava Greco (assist: Britt). Goalkeepers Arden La-Rose and Molly Pritchard split time in the net and allowed only one score. The team’s next game is at home against Ashland on Sunday beginning at noon.

Ohio State 1, Oakland 0 (Men)

The Ohio State men’s squad (1-1) picked up their first win of the season, downing the Oakland Golden Grizzlies (0-2-1) by the final of 1-0 Thursday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. It was the first of the Buckeyes’ two games in this season’s Wolstein Classic.

The lone goal of the match came in the 55th minute. Nick Skubis headed a perfect pass from just inside the mid-field stripe to a streaking Will Arneson. Arneson split two defenders, moved the ball to his left foot, and sent a shot past Oakland goalkeeper Sebastian Stanaj for the score.

Buckeye keeper Max Trejo stopped both shots on goal for the win. Ohio State plays their second Wolstein Classic match against the Temple Owls (0-2-1) Sunday at 7:00 p.m. at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. The Owls tied Dayton, 0-0, Thursday in the other Wolstein Classic contest.
