The Ohio State men’s soccer team (2-1-0) added a Wolstein Classic championship to their early-season resume Sunday with a 2-1 win over Temple at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Senior Marko Borkovich triggered the first goal with a corner kick assist and added the game-winning score in the second half.

The first goal of the match came in the 11th minute when Ohio State senior Nick McHenry redirected Borkovic’s corner kick as it descended into the scrum right in front of Temple goaltender Preston Neal. It was McHenry’s first goal of the season.

The score remained 1-0 for the next 68 minutes of play. In the 79th minute, Borkovic took a pass from sophomore Nick Skubis as he moved down the middle of the pitch. He hopped over a diving Neal and beat the remaining defender, Paola Kampula, with a shot to the right corner of the net. It was Borkovic’s first goal of the season.

Ohio State is next in action Friday as they host the University of Akron (2-0-1) at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. The Zips are coming off a 0-0 home draw Friday with the #8-ranked West Virginia Mountaineers.
