#20 Otterbein women's volleyball wins two

The #20-ranked Otterbein women’s volleyball team (13-5) won two matches Friday at the Rike Center in Westerville, downing the Transylvania Pioneers (12-5) in straight sets and the Mount St. Joseph Lions (5-9) three sets to one.

In the match against Transylvania, the Cardinals found themselves behind in both of the first two sets before coming back to win, 25-19 and 25-21. They then closed out the match with a 25-15 third set. Emerson Baum paced Otterbein with 11 kills, while Olivia Vitaz led with 35 assists. Grace Ganz, an Olentangy Liberty grad, had nine digs.

In the second match, Mount St. Joseph came from behind to win the first set. Otterbein won the next three in convincing fashion. Johnstown alum Brooke Barb recorded 12 kills for the Cardinals. Lancaster’s Chandler Crowell had 10 blocks while Ashley Kefauver, a Hamilton Township grad, led Otterbein with 15 digs.

The Cardinals begin OAC play next Friday at Mount Union (7-8) in Alliance. The Raiders play the St. Vincent Bearcats and the Hiram Terriers Saturday in Hiram.
