Denison 35, Ohio Wesleyan 20
Denison (2-2, 1-1) hosted Ohio Wesleyan (1-3, 0-2) in an NCAC matchup at Deeds Field-Piper Stadium Saturday and came away with a 35-20 win. The teams were tied at the half, 7-7. The Big Red scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter to put the game away. Denison QB Tyler Love passed for 305 yards and three touchdowns and ran one in as well. OWU’s Mysaun Sanders and Denison’s Blayton Reid, a Logan Elm alum, each ran for 98 yards.
Heidelberg 30, Capital 27
Capital (2-0, 1-0) scored 14 points in the fourth quarter at Heidelberg (2-2, 1-1) Saturday in OAC play, but came up just short, falling to the Student Princes, 30-27, in Tiffin. Quarterback Tyler Love, a Teays Valley grad, hit Wesley Armstead with a 29-yard scoring pass to get the Comets to within three points with 1:16 left to play. An onside kick was recovered by Heidelberg to seal the win. Love threw for 154 yards and two scores. Nate Younker, a Watkins Memorial alum, had a touchdown for Capital.
Northwood 28, Ohio Dominican 3
The Northwood Timberwolves (4-1, 2-1) came to Columbus to take on the Ohio Dominican Panthers (2-2, 1-2) in a G-MAC matchup and dominated play to win 28-3. Northwood scored 14 points in the first quarter to take an early lead. Combined with an outstanding defensive performance, the Timberwolves won their fourth game in five outings. ODU’s Mo Conteh, an Eastmoor alum, led all players with nine tackles.
Mount Union 62, Otterbein 7
The Otterbein Cardinals (0-4, 0-3) traveled to Alliance Saturday for an OAC contest against the Mount Union Purple Raiders (4-0, 2-0). Running back Darnell Williams paced the Mount Union offense with 163 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 13 carries. Otterbein quarterback Brayden Bayles, a Heath grad, was 12-22 for 106 yards passing. Tight end Christian Pataky scored the Cardinals’ touchdown on a three-yard run.
