The Ohio State men’s hockey team (2-0) began play this weekend and topped Northern Michigan (0-4) in games Friday and Saturday. The Buckeyes played well off the jump in both wins, scoring three in the first period of their 5-3 victory Friday and two goals in the opening frame Saturday on their way to a 3-1 win.
Félix Caron scored three of the Buckeyes’ goals over the two-day stretch. The RPI transfer is a native of Terrebonne, Quebec, having played two years of junior hockey with the West Kelowna Warriors in British Columbia.
Of Ohio State’s eight total goals, only one was on the power play. That came from Caron in the first game’s opening period. Besides Caron, the Buckeyes got goals from Max Montes, Davis Burnside, Riley Thompson, Adam Eisele, and Nathan Lewis.
Kristoffer Eberly got the win goal for the Buckeyes in the both games, stopping 11 of 13 Wildcat shots Friday and 22 of 23 Saturday. He finishes up his first weekend with a goals against average of 1.5 and a save percentage of .923.
The Buckeyes travel to Connecticut to play games next Friday and Saturday against UConn (1-1). Friday’s game is in Storrs at the Toscano Family Ice Forum beginning at 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, the scene shifts to Hartford and PeoplesBank Arena for a 4:00 p.m. start. Both contests can be scene on ESPN+
