On Saturday at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette Ind., the #1-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes did not take a lead against Purdue until the second quarter. In fact, the Boilermakers led 3-0 after kicking a field goal on their second drive. The Buckeyes took off in the second frame, scoring 24 points en route to a 34-10 victory.

Ohio State was without receiver Carnell Tate, who experienced some muscle tightness during warmups. That did not slow the offensive attack. Quarterback Julian Sayin was 27-33 for 303 yards and a touchdown. Sayin also threw an interception in the Purdue end zone.

The Buckeye receiving corps was led once again by Jeremiah Smith, who caught 10 passes for 137 and the aerial touchdown. Tight end Max Klare, a Boilermaker transfer, had five catches for 59 yards against his former teammates.

Bo Jackson paced the running game with 75 yards on 14 carries, while Isaiah West rushed for 60 yards in nine tries. CJ Donaldson had only five carries, but he scored two short yardage touchdowns. Backup quarterback Lincoln Kienholz also had a rushing score.

The defense had another solid performance. Linebacker Payton Pierce led the attack with seven tackles. Pickerington Central grad Sonny Styles recorded five stops. Jermaine Matthews Jr. intercepted a pass. The Buckeyes did not record a sack against Purdue on the afternoon.

Ohio State returns home next Saturday for a game against UCLA. The kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. The Bruins were at Nebraska on Saturday night.
