The Columbus Blue Jackets moved on to Vancouver Saturday in the second game of their Western swing. After losing 4-0 in Calgary Saturday, the Blue Jackets played better against the Canucks, but fell 4-3 at Rogers Arena.

Columbus’s top line did all of the scoring, with Kirill Marchenko recording two goals and Dmitri Voronkov adding another. Voronkov’s goal in the second period gave the Blue Jackets a six-minute 2-1 lead.

Vancouver bounced back, scoring once in the second period and twice in the third for the victory. Brock Boeser posted the winning goal with 5:45 left in the game. The Jackets, who outshot Vancouver 32-25, had opportunities down the stretch but couldn’t cash in.

Perhaps the biggest play of the night was a penalty assessed to Columbus’s Mathieu Olivier for a hit on Elias Pettersson that drove Petterson into the glass. Olivier received a five-minute major boarding call and a game misconduct.

It doesn’t get any easier for the Blue Jackets on their trip. They go to Edmonton for a game with the Oilers Monday. Then, it’s the Kraken in Seattle Tuesday.
