Saturday’s game between the Columbus Blue Jackets and New York Rangers was a defensive struggle featuring goaltenders Jet Greaves and Igor Shesterkin. Greaves made 31 saves on 32 shots for the Blue Jackets, while Shesterkin stopped 24 of 25 shots. The 1-1 tie went to a shootout, where the Rangers prevailed.

New York got on the board first, converting on a power play opportunity almost six minutes into the second period. Mika Zibanejac chipped in the rebound of his own shot for the 1-0 lead. The Blue Jackets countered on a power play of their own in the second when Dmitri Voronkov tipped a Zach Werenski shot past Shesterkin.

The rest of regulation and the ensuing overtime saw both goalies make stop after stop to send the festivities to a shootout. The Rangers were able to convert on two, while the Jackets cashed in on one attempt, giving the Blueshirts an important divisional victory, with Columbus gaining a point.

The Blue Jackets have one more home game before they leave on another extended road trip. The Montreal Canadiens come to Nationwide Arena Monday with the puck drop slated for 7:30 p.m.
