The Ohio State women’s basketball team (3-1, 0-0) were back at home Wednesday night after falling to #1-ranked UConn Sunday in Hartford, Conn. Kent State (3-3, 0-0) came to Value City Arena Wednesday for a non-conference contest. The Buckeyes led by just a point at half time, but took off in the second half to win, 88-68.
Jaloni Cambridge once again led Ohio State in scoring with 19 points. Three other Buckeyes were in double figures – Chance Gray (18), T’yana Todd (15), and Kennedy Cambridge (10). It was the first start for Todd, a senior from Vaughan, Ontario.
Ohio State won convincingly despite not having its best shooting night. The Buckeyes were 31-75 from the field, 8-29 from outside the arc, and 18-25 from the free throw line. The Golden Flashes were paced by Mya Babbitt, who led all scorers with 30.
The Buckeyes head to the Bahamas next week for two games in the Baha Mar Hoops Pink Flamingo Championship. They start with the Belmont Bruins Monday at 11:00 a.m. The second game in Nassau will be Wednesday against an opponent and at a time to be determined by Monday’s result.
