The #19-ranked Ohio State women’s basketball team (11-2, 1-1) hosted the #4 UCLA Bruins (12-1, 2-0) Sunday in an important Big Ten contest. UCLA took a 39-33 lead at halftime, hit a half-court three at the end of the third quarter, and held on for an 82-75 win at Value City Arena.

Ohio State’s Jaloni Cambridge led all scorers with 28 points, but the Buckeyes did not have a good day shooting. They were 28-64 (43.8%) from the field and just 7-30 (23.3%) from outside the arc.

The Bruins were only slightly better, going 33-73 (45.2%) generally and 7-22 (31.8%) from three, but dominated on the boards, out-rebounding OSU 47-32 and grabbing 19 offensive caroms. UCLA’s Lauren Betts recorded an impressive double-double with 18 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Bruins in both categories.

The Buckeyes play next when they travel to West Lafayette, Ind. for a New Year’s Eve Big Ten tangle with the Purdue Boilermakers (8-5, 0-2). The tip-off at Mackey Arena is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. All of the action can be seen on the Big Ten Network.
