The #2-ranked Ohio State women’s hockey team (17-3-0, 11-3- 0 WCHA) were back at the OSU Ice Rink this weekend, facing the #4 Penn State Nittany Lions (18-3, 12-0 AHA) in a pair of non-conference games. The Buckeyes won 5-1 Friday and earned the sweep with a 4-1 victory Saturday.

In Friday’s contest, Ohio State got two goals from Maxine Cimoroni, along with scores from Sloane Matthews, Hilda Svensson, and Joy Dunne. Dunne, who leads the Buckeyes with 18 goals, was just named to the U.S. team that will compete at this year’s Winter Olympic Games. OSU’s Sanni Vanhanen will represent Finland at the Games.

Matthews also scored in Saturday’s game. Her 19 points on the season is third for Ohio State, behind only Svensson (36) and Dunne (33). Adding goals for the Buckeyes in the second game against the Nittany Lions were Kaia Malachino, Mira Jungåker, and Jocelyn Amos.

The Buckeyes return to WCHA play next weekend with Friday and Saturday games at St. Cloud State in Minnesota. The Huskies (7-12-1, 3-10-1 WCHA) lost twice at Ohio State in October. Friday’s tilt gets underway at 7:00 p.m., Saturday’s at 3:00 p.m. Both games can be seen on the Big Ten+ Network.
