The Ohio Wesleyan women’s basketball team (11-1, 2-0) beat visiting Oberlin (5-7, 1-1) for its 10th straight win. The Battling Bishops took a ten-point lead at the end of the first quarter and cruised the rest of the way for an 80-61 conference victory.
Macy Miller, a Fairbanks grad, paced OWU with her 10th double-double of the season, recording 18 points and 20 rebounds. The rebound total was the best for the Bishops in 25 years. Also scoring in double figures for Ohio Wesleyan were Alyssa Griner (17), a Delaware Hayes alum, and Maddie Ebbert (15).
Oberlin’s Ellie Pollock-Ballard, a Grove City grad, led all scorers with 22 points. The former Greyhound was 8-10 from the field, including a perfect 6-6 from outside the arc. Ironically, she was 0-1 from the free throw line.
The Bishops, now 2-0 in NCAC play, head to Springfield next Saturday for a game against the Wittenberg Tigers (8-4, 1-1). Tip-off is slated for 1:00 p.m. All of the action can be seen on the Wittenberg athletics website (tigersportsnetwork.com).
