The Ohio State men’s basketball team (10-4, 2-2) hosted #10-ranked Nebraska (14-0, 4-0) in an important Big Ten matchup Monday at Value City Arena. Nebraska led through most of the game, but the Buckeyes rallied midway through the second half before the Cornhuskers grabbed the lead back for a 72-69 win.

Paced by Braden Frager’s 15 points off the bench, Nebraska led by as many as 14 in the first half. The Buckeyes gradually pulled themselves back into the game, finally taking their first lead with 10:24 left in the second half on two free throws from Bruce Thornton.

Ohio State took their final lead of the contest, 58-57, on a jumper from Thornton with 5:08 remaining in regulation. The Huskers then took control, leading by at least two scores most of the way down the stretch to stay undefeated on the season, 4-0 in Big Ten play.

The Buckeyes got all of their points from their starting lineup. Reynoldsburg native John Mobley Jr. led all scorers with 22 points, while Thornton added 16 points and Pickerington Central’s Devin Royal had 14. Amare Bynum had a team-high nine rebounds for OSU. The starters averaged more than 35 minutes on the court.

The Buckeyes are off to the West Coast for their next game. It’s a conference tilt at Oregon (8-7, 1-3) Thursday beginning at 10:30 p.m. EST. The Ducks fell at Rutgers, 88-85, Monday. Thursday’s action can be seen on the Big Ten Network.
