In the Columbus blue Jackets’ home win over Dallas Thursday, the teams combined for one goal, Zach Werenski’s team-leading 19th of the season. Tampa Bay, the hottest team in the NHL, was in town Saturday and two days made a big difference in the offensive output on the Nationwide Arena ice.

The Blue Jackets scored four times in the first period to take a two-goal lead into the first intermission. They would add four more goals before the final horn sounded to come away with an 8-5 win, snapping the Lightning’s 15-game point streak. It was the fifth win in six games under new head coach Rick Bowness.

Another relative newcomer on the Columbus scorecard, forward Mason Marchment, scored three goals for his first hat trick as a Blue Jacket, the third in his NHL career. He has tallied eight goals and 11 points in nine games with his new club.

On Saturday, Columbus also got scores from Cole Sillinger, Adam Fantilli, Dmitri Voronkov, Charlie Coyle, and Sean Monahan. It was Coyle’s 200th career goal, coming just one game after playing in his 1,000th NHL game.

The Blue Jackets continue their homestand Monday when the Los Angeles Kings come to Nationwide Arena for a game beginning at 7:00 p.m.
