The Ohio Wesleyan men’s basketball team (7-15, 4-9 NCAC) took a commanding first half lead over the Wabash Little Giants (14-8, 8-5 NCAC) Wednesday and held on for a 79-75 upset win at Branch Rickey Arena in Delaware.

It was indeed the tale of two halves, as the Battling Bishops led 47-31 going to the locker room after 20 minutes of play. Wabash battled back, outscoring OWU 44-32 in the second half, but it wasn’t enough.

A quartet of local players paced the Bishops. Gahanna’s Jessee Battle had 18 points, while Isaac Ward, a Logan Elm alum, and Quinn Hart, a Dublin Coffman grad who came off the bench Wednesday, each scored 15. Delaware’s Jake Lowman had a team-high six assists.

OWU is back in action Saturday as they host Wooster (7-15, 4-9 NCAC) with the tip-off slated for 3:00 p.m. Fans can watch the action on the Bishops’ website with Steve Basford and Steve Geiger on the call.
