Ohio State men's lacrosse tops Denver in defensive battle

The #8-ranked Ohio State men’s lacrosse team (7-1, 0-0 Big Ten) hosted the #12 Denver Pioneers (4-2, 0-0 Big East) Thursday in Columbus and came away with an intense 6-4 non-conference win.

The Buckeyes’ attack was paced by junior Garrett Haas, who had two goals and an assist on the evening. Alex Marinier, Jackson Walsh, Khalif Hocker, and Olentangy Liberty alum Jake Struck also recorded goals.

Former Dublin Jerome Celtic Marek Tzagournis led Denver with two goals and an assist. Tzagournis is tied for the Pioneers’ points lead (17) this season and is second on the team with 10 goals.

Ohio State begins Big Ten play with a game at Rutgers (6-2, 0-0 Big Ten) on Saturday, March 21. The Scarlet Knights are coming off a 19-4 win at St. John’s Tuesday and will host Bellarmine this Saturday before taking on the Buckeyes.
