Buckeye women's hockey team advances to Frozen Four

The #1-ranked Ohio State women’s hockey squad (35-4-0) beat the #8 Yale Bulldogs (26-10-0) Saturday at the OSU Ice Rink, 6-1, to move on to the Frozen Four to be held at Penn State’s Pegula Ice Arena this upcoming week.

Ohio State’s Jocelyn Amos and Sloane Matthews each had two goals in Saturday’s win, with Kaia Malachino and Jordan Baxter adding scores. Amos also recorded two assists on the evening.

Buckeye goaltender Hailey MacLeod picked up her team-leading 25th win of the season, stopping 22 of 23 shots. She now has a save percentage of .932. 

Ohio State advances to its fourth straight Frozen Four. The Buckeyes and the Wisconsin Badgers have tangled in the National Championship Game in the previous three seasons. Wisconsin won in 2023 and 2025 with the Buckeyes claiming the national title in 2024.

In this year’s semifinal round, OSU will play the #5-ranked Northeastern Huskies (29-8-1) Friday at 4:00 p.m. in University Park. The other semifinal matchup features #2 Wisconsin (33-4-2) and #3 Penn State (33-5-0) at 7:30 p.m. Both contests can be seen on ESPN+.

The National Championship Game is slated for Sunday at 4:00 p.m. with ESPNU providing the coverage.
