Bexley sophomore Jackson Monus defended his Division II state diving title Tuesday at Canton’s C.T. Branin Natatorium with a dominating performance. Monus won all three rounds of the competition. Senior Charlie Vatolin of Bay Village Bay finished in the second spot as he did last year.

Also in Division II, Wellington School seniors Jack McCarthy and Finn Wheeler competed in the final round and finished in 12th and 13th, respectively. Centennial senior Daniel Barnes and DeSales senior Phu Bui made it to the semi-final round. Barnes was 17th and Bui was 20th.

In Division I, Westerville South sophomore Andrew Keir finished in third after finding himself in the fifth spot at the end of the first round. Keir finished in eighth place last year as a freshman. Winning the DI championship was Solon junior Mitch Caldwell, following in the footsteps of Solon’s Dominic Roberto, who captured state titles the last four years. Roberto is now a freshman at Ohio State.

Dublin Coffman senior Ben Edwardson, in his third straight state competition, was eighth. Also taking part in the final round were Watkins Memorial sophomore Brezlin Harris (11), Dublin Jerome junior Mason Sargel (14), and Gahanna sophomore Dylan Sponseller (16). Whetstone sophomore Mac Plank made the semi-final round and finished in 20th.

The Division I and II girls diving championships will take place Wednesday in Canton.
