After beating the Detroit Red Wings in the Stadium Series on March 1, the Columbus Blue Jackets have lost five of six games. The Jackets have been shut out in three of those losses, including their 4-0 loss to the New York Rangers at Nationwide Arena Saturday night.
With the loss, the Rangers move into the second wild card spot in the NHL’s Eastern Division. Columbus is two points behind them with a game in hand. Montreal is one point ahead of the Blue Jackets, who are now tied with Detroit.
“It’s a tough way to play when you’re not scoring goals is to try to score goals when you know you have to score goals,” said head coach Dean Evason after Saturday’s game. “We have to stay with what we’re doing, how we’re doing it and just push a little bit harder.”
Columbus returns to action Monday with a home game against the New Jersey Devils. The game is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m. The home stand ends Thursday when the Stanley Cup-defending champion Florida Panthers come to town.
