The Columbus Blue Jackets are in a critical stretch of games as they try to work back into a playoff spot. Coming off a bad home loss to Colorado on Thursday, the Jackets headed to Toronto for the first of back-to-back games in Canada. Things didn’t get any better, as they were blanked by the Maple Leafs, 5-0.

Nicholas Robertson scored for Toronto midway through both the first and second periods. The Leafs added three scores in the third, two from William Nylander and one from Auston Matthews. Nylander leads Toronto with 44 goals. Matthews’ goal was his thirtieth of the season.

Shots on goal were equal, with each team recording 27 attempts. The Blue Jackets just couldn’t get one past Toronto goaltender Anthony Stolarz. It was the third and last game between the two teams this season. Columbus won the first two, 6-2 in Columbus in October and 5-1 in Toronto in January.

It doesn’t get any easier for Columbus Sunday. They’re in Ottawa for the second time in nine days. On March 29, the Senators edged the Blue Jackets, 3-2, in Ottawa. The clubs tangle one last time this upcoming Tuesday in Columbus. The game Sunday begins at 5:00 p.m.
