The Ohio State women’s lacrosse team (6-0) came into Friday’s home game against Cincinnati (4-4) having won their first five games of the season. The Bearcats, after falling behind early, came back to tie things at the end of regulation. The Buckeyes, however, scored with 2:03 left in overtime to win 10-9.

Ohio State scored the first four goals of the contest, including two from sophomore Kampbell Stone, an Upper Arlington grad, and led at the end of the first quarter, 4-1. OSU outscored Cincinnati 3-2 in the second period to take a 7-3 lead at the half. Sophomore Kate Tyack, a Dublin Coffman alum, scored three times before the break.

The Bearcats came all the way back to tie the game in the fourth quarter, with six big goals in the third and one in the fourth. The Bucks could only manage two scores in the second half and the game went to overtime for a decision.

It was Tyack with the game-winning goal with 2:03 remaining in the extra frame. It was her fourth goal of the game, her team-leading 16th of the season. Goalie Jocelyn Torres, a junior transfer from Virginia Tech, has started in the net for all six Buckeye wins and has a solid save percentage of .568.

Ohio State travels to Eugene, Ore. for a game with the Ducks next Wednesday. Oregon is 5-2 after beating San Diego State by one goal Thursday. It will be the first Big Ten game for both squads. Fans can watch the action on the Big Ten Network beginning at 8:00 p.m. EDT.
