After taking a series from the #18-ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers over the weekend, the Ohio State softball team (21-6-1) was right back at it Monday with a non-conference contest against the UW-Green Bay Phoenix (6-12) at Buckeye Field.

OSU wasted no time in getting the scoring started, posting three runs in the bottom of the first inning. They added six more in the next two innings and came away with a 10-0 five-inning victory.

The Buckeye offense was powered by home runs from senior Kami Kortakrax, sophomore Jasmyn Burns, and senior Kaitlyn Farley. Burns ended the day with four runs batted in. Burns leads the team, along with senior Reagan Milliken, with 10 home runs this season. OSU has now homered in 21 consecutive games.

Ohio State freshman pitcher Kassandra Gewecke (3-0) went the distance, posting a shutout on six hits and no walks, while striking out three. In her nine appearances this year, Gewecke has an ERA of just 1.46, has struck out 10, and walked only five.

The Buckeyes are back in action Wednesday with another non-conference tilt when they welcome the Penguins of Youngstown State (4-21) to Buckeye Field.
