The Ohio State softball team (37-10-1) had an impressive weekend against their archrival. The Buckeyes swept Michigan (31-15) in Columbus in their three-game series that began with a doubleheader Friday. Sunday’s win came with a walk-off grand slam in the sixth inning to put the Bucks up by eight, 15-7.

The weekend started with a twin bill sweep Friday by Ohio State – 4-3 and 7-4. On Sunday, the Wolverines jumped into the lead, with a grand slam in the top of the first inning. The Buckeyes answered with a three-run homer from Sami Bewick in the bottom of the frame.

Michigan added to its lead with a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning to make it 5-3. Ohio State took the lead in the bottom of the fourth with three runs. Taylor Cruse singled and Hadley Parisien doubled to bring runs home.

The Buckeyes added to their lead in the fifth when Cruse drove in another run with a sacrifice fly. Later in the inning, Jasmyn Burns hit a grand slam. Burns had already set an OSU season record with her 21st home run Friday. With the grand slam Sunday, she set a season record for RBIs with 68.

The Wolverines fought back with two runs in the top of the sixth inning to make it 11-7. The Buckeyes needed four runs to shorten the game in the bottom of the sixth. Those runs came in on one swing of the bat when Pariesien went over the left field wall with the bases loaded and the Bucks broke out the brooms.

Ohio State heads to Athens to take on the Ohio University Bobcats Wednesday beginning at 5:30 p.m. The Buckeyes finish up their regular season this upcoming weekend with a three-game home set against the Purdue Boilermakers.
