The Ohio State women’s volleyball team (1-2) had not won a set in their first two matches of the season, falling to VCU and Miami of Florida.

In Wednesday’s contest at Miami of Ohio (3-1), the Buckeyes won the first set convincingly, 25-15, but then lost the next two. They turned the tables, capturing the final two sets, to win their first match.

The Bucks were led by junior outside hitter Hannah Jones, a transfer from Memphis, who had a game-high 26 kills. She added two blocks and an ace on the evening. Junior setter Mia Tumen led all players with 58 assists, while sophomore Olivia Hasbrook paced Ohio State with 16 digs and two aces.

The Buckeyes return to the Covelli Center for a Sunday match with the #12-ranked Florida Gators (3-1) beginning at noon. Returning to Columbus for the contest is Florida sophomore Alec Rothe. The Gators’ middle blocker is a Dublin Scioto grad.
