The Ohio State women’s basketball team began their season Sunday at Value City Arena with a non-conference game against Coppin State. Led by Jaloni Cambridge’s 23 points, the Buckeyes topped the visiting Eagles, 88-59.
Coppin State is a member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). Last season, the Eagles were 19-15 and played in the WNIT, falling to Cleveland State by two points in the second round.
On Sunday, all eleven Buckeyes who played in the contest, scored. Three were in double figures, including Jaloni Cambridge. The other two were Chance Gray (17), a Cincinnati native who played her first two seasons at Oregon, and Kennedy Cambridge (11), who started her collegiate career at Kentucky.
Ohio State plays another non-conference game Thursday as Bellarmine comes to Columbus. The Knights are members of the Atlantic Sun Conference and are 1-1 on the season, having beat Spalding (Ky.) and lost to Morehead State.
