The Ohio State men’s lacrosse team (7-1) traveled to South Bend, Ind. Saturday to take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (3-2). A back-and-forth game saw the Irish take a one-goal lead with 7:55 left in the fourth quarter.
The Buckeyes came back with two goals before the end of regulation, the second with seven seconds remaining, to grab a 10-9 road victory.
Notre Dame took a 5-4 lead to the locker room at halftime. In the third quarter, the Ohio State outscored the Irish 4-1 before the home squad recorded the first three goals of the fourth to take a 9-8 lead.
OSU freshman Liam White scored with 4:31 left in regulation to tie things up. With just seven seconds on the clock, Shane O’Leary, a graduate transfer from the University of Massachusetts, posted the winning goal for the Buckeyes, his second score of the game.
Senior Alex Marinier led Ohio State with three goals on the afternoon. Sophomore goalie Caleb Fyock had a season-high 13 saves and recorded his seventh win of the campaign.
The Buckeyes have now won seven straight after falling to Utah to begin the season. Their next game is at Denver on Sunday, March 16 at 2:00 p.m. EDT.
