The Ohio State baseball team (6-12) was back at Bill Davis Stadium Tuesday to take on Miami University (10-10) in a non-conference game. The Buckeyes needed to bounce back after being swept in a tough three-game series against the Indiana Hoosiers in Bloomington, Ind. this past weekend. OSU came away with a 14-7 win.

The Buckeyes took out whatever frustrations may be lingering with runs early and often against the RedHawks. Miami scored a run in the top of the first inning to take an early lead, but the Buckeyes scored seven times in the bottom of the frame. Both Ryan Miller, a Dublin Jerome grad, and Reggie Bussey knocked in two runs to help put OSU on top.

The Buckeyes scored single runs in the second and fourth innings. In the fourth, Trey Lipsey hit an inside-the-park homer. It was his second home run of the season. Bussey knocked in three more runs in the fifth with a blast over the left field wall.

Ohio State rounded out their scoring with two runs in the sixth. Both runs came home on bases-loaded walks, including a pass issued to Bussey for his sixth run batted in of the game. He doubled his season output of RBIs, now at 12.

The win went to reliever Gavin Kuzniewski (3-1) who tossed three scoreless innings to earn his third win of the campaign. Kuzniewski allowed only two hits and a walk, and struck out two. It was the right-hander’s seventh appearance and reduced his ERA this season to 3.21.

The Buckeyes head back to the road for a Big Ten series against Iowa (11-8) this weekend. The teams will play single games on Friday (5:00 p.m.), Saturday (3:00 p.m.), and Sunday (2:00 p.m.). The Hawkeyes took two of three from the Michigan State Spartans in Iowa City last weekend.
