The #1-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes were without their two star wide receivers Saturday, so they turned to their running game to beat the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, 42-9, at Ohio Stadium. Freshman Bo Jackson paced the Bucks with 110 yards rushing on 19 carries and two touchdowns.

Ohio State started out slowly, but was able to take a 14-3 lead at the halftime break. The Buckeyes then added four touchdowns in the second half to post another overwhelming win to its undefeated record.

Quarterback Julian Sayin was 13-19 for 157 yards and two scores. With Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate out of the lineup with unspecified injuries, Sayin turned to tight end Max Klare. Klare had seven catches for 105 yards and a touchdown. Brandon Innis made a catch for a score as well.

The Buckeye defense had another outstanding effort, holding the Knights’ offense to just 147 yards on the day. Defensive end Caden Curry had six tackles with two sacks to lead the D-corps. Payton Pierce and Sonny Styles each had five stops. After failing to record a sack the last two weeks, the Bucks had four Saturday.

With the first 11 games behind them, Ohio State can now concentrate on the final regular season game against #18 Michigan in Ann Arbor next Saturday. The Wolverines beat Maryland, 45-20, Saturday to go to 9-2, 7-1 on the season. Kickoff at Michigan Stadium is set for noon and can be seen on Fox.
