After beating Minnesota in overtime last Thursday at the Schottenstein Center, the Ohio State women’s basketball squad (22-3, 12-3) found themselves once again in extra time Monday, this time against the visiting Iowa Hawkeyes (18-8, 8-7). The Buckeyes scored the final seven points in OT for an 86-78 win.
OSU led 34-21 at halftime, but the Hawkeyes clawed back to even the score 74-74 at the end of regulation. Good defense by the Buckeyes in overtime allowed only four Iowa points. With the win, Ohio State remains undefeated at home this season with a record of 13-0 in Columbus.
Freshman guard Jaloni Cambridge led the Buckeyes with 29 points, her 16th game in double figures this season. Junior forward Cotie McMahon added 25 points, while redshirt-sophomore guard Kennedy Cambridge scored a career-high 16. McMahon become the 29th Buckeye to record 500 career rebounds, nabbing eight boards for a total now of 502.
Ohio State is back in action Thursday with a Big Ten contest against Indiana (16-9, 8-6) in Bloomington. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. Fans can watch the action on Peacock and listen to the call on ESPN 1460AM.
