The Ohio State softball team (20-6-1) fell to #18-ranked Nebraska Friday but came back to win Saturday and Sunday to take the series at Buckeye Field. It was the first Big Ten action for the Buckeyes.
On Sunday, OSU beat the Cornhuskers, 12-6, after taking a 9-3 lead after four innings. Three Buckeye hitters had home runs on the afternoon: sophomore Sami Bewick, junior Skylar Limon, and sophomore Cruse Taylor. The trio knocked in eight of the Buckeyes’ 12 runs.
Freshman Lorin Boutte (10-4) pitched the final four innings of the contest and earned her 10th win of the season. Starter Layna Gerhard (3-0), also a freshman, did not figure into the decision, but picked up the win Saturday, in relief of Boutte, as the Buckeyes edged Nebraska, 13-12.
Ohio State has two games this week at Buckeye Field, both non-conference contests: Green Bay on Monday and Youngstown State on Wednesday. Both games begin at 4:00 p.m. The Buckeyes head to Michigan State next weekend for Big Ten games on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
