Ohio State grad student Makenna Webster had a career-high four goals in the Buckeyes’ season-opening win at Ball State Friday. That mark didn’t last long, as the St. Louis native scored a school-record six times Sunday in OSU’s 9-3 non-conference win over Kent State at Buckeye Varsity Field.

Freshman Carmelo Maro got the Buckeyes (2-0) on the board first with a goal five minutes into the contest. The Golden Flashes (1-1) tied the score almost six minutes later with a goal from Emma Rolston, one of her two on the day. After that, Ohio State scored three straight, including two from Webster and another from junior Anne Marie Krebs.

In the second half, Webster added four goals, including one on a penalty shot. Also scoring for Ohio State was senior MaKayla Carahaly. Buckeye goalkeeper Maddie Stevens picked up her second win in as many outings.

The Buckeyes play their next two games at home as part of the Big Ten/ACC challenge. On Friday, they host Virginia in a contest beginning at 4:00 p.m. Next Sunday, they play Syracuse at Buckeye Varsity Field at 2:00 p.m. Both games can be seen on the Big Ten+ network.
