Going into Saturday’s match at Ohio Northern’s Dial-Roberson Stadium, the Capital Comets (8-4, 4-1) were tied with the Polar Bears (10-5, 3-2) in the OAC standings. Capital’s Grace Osborn, the NCAA’s top all-time scorer, posted 10 goals to lead the Comets to a 21-7 victory.
Capital got off to a fast start, scoring seven of the first nine goals. At halftime, the Comets led 15-4. Capital outscored the Polar Bears 6-3 in the second half, with all three ONU goals coming in the fourth quarter. Osborn, a Pickerington Central grad, added two assists to her offensive output.
Also having big games for the Comets were Ava Vendetti, a DeSales alum, with three goals and four assists, and Andi Henry, an Olentangy grad and Kent State transfer, with three goals and three assists.
With the win, Capital is now tied with Mount Union for second place in the OAC, one game behind John Carroll. The Comets host Mount Union Friday at Bernlohr Stadium with the action beginning at 1:00 p.m.
