The Columbus Blue Jackets announced this week that they have signed three players to entry level contracts. Northeastern University center Jack Williams has inked a two-year deal that will begin this season. Williams is expected to join the Blue Jackets right away.

The 5-11, 185-pound forward recorded 39 goals, 55 assists, and a cumulative +11 plus/minus rating in 106 career appearances over three seasons at Northeastern. He posted 15-plus goals and 35 or more points in each of his final two campaigns.

“Jack Williams is a skilled, hard-working player with a passion for the game, who was a very productive player and leader during his time at Northeastern,” said Columbus general manager Don Waddell about the native of Biddeford, Maine.

The other two contracts will begin with the 2025-26 season. Defenseman Charlie Elick, who played for the Western Hockey League’s Brandon Wheat Kings and Tri-City Americans this season, has signed a three-year contract.

Elick was selected by Columbus in the second round at the 2024 NHL Draft held at the Sphere in Las Vegas. The 19-year old has registered 10 goals and 45 assists in 196 career games over his four seasons in the WHL. The 6-3, 206-pound blueliner grew up in Calgary, Alberta.

University of North Dakota defenseman Caleb MacDonald has signed a two-year deal. MacDonald recorded three goals and seven assists during his sophomore campaign in 2024-25. The 6-3, 224-pounder is a native of Cambridge, Ontario.
