Last Friday was a good day for local high school boys’ tennis teams. Central Ohio captured three of the four boys’ tennis titles in Wooster. In Division II singles play, Columbus Academy junior Nason Lo beat Alex Neely, a Gates Mills Hawken senior, in two quick sets, 6-0, 6-0, to win the championship.

In Division II doubles, it was the brother tandem of Sam and Henry Lassard who won the title. Sam, a senior at Bexley, is a Colorado College commit. He was a three-time state qualifier. Younger brother, Henry, is a Lions’ sophomore who just happened to win the state singles crown last year as a freshman.

It was the first time that the Lessards had played together at the state level. They cruised through the early rounds, but had to dig deep in their final match against sophomore Neelan Gandhi and senior Michael Ryu from Cincinnati Indian Hill. After winning the first set, 6-2, the brothers won set two, 7-5.

In Division I doubles, New Albany seniors Abhinav Dandu and Jackson Clements beat the brother duo of senior Isaac Vens and sophomore Landon Vens of Sylvania Southview, 6-4, 6-4, to take the top step of the podium.

Because of the incessant rain Friday, the finals were held indoors at the Aspen Racquet Club in Wooster rather than on the outdoor courts at the College of Wooster, where the early matches took place.Â
