It was a great night at the ballpark for Clipper fans and Parrot Heads alike, as the team hosted Margaritaville night at Huntington Park, and the musical stylings of Jimmy Buffet accompanied the play as Columbus downed the St. Paul Saints 7-0.

An RBI double by Jhonkensy Noel got the scoring started for Columbus in the first inning. It was the second inning, however, when the offense became uncorked, pushing four runs across the plate. Free passes and a costly throwing error by Saints’ starting pitcher Blayne Enlow did most of the damage. Catcher Bryan Lavastida would round out the scoring in the second with an RBI single.

Columbus’s stellar offense was matched by the pitching staff. Starting Pitcher Joey Cantillo had St Paul batters off balance from the outset.  Cantillo was effective in his change of speeds and the Saints simply never looked comfortable. That theme continued throughout the night. Cantillo would give up just three hits. That would be all St. Paul could muster.

Cantillo pitched into the sixth inning and picked up the win, his third on the season. Blayne Enlow suffered his fifth loss of the year. Columbus continued their offensive onslaught in the sixth inning with a pair of solo home runs. Raynel Delgado continued his hot homestand with his fifth home run of the year. Daniel Schneemann followed suit later in the inning with his 11th of the season.

The Clips’ outstanding pitching continued with the relief corps. Cade Smith struck out the side in the eighth inning and Tim Herrin tossed a perfect ninth. The win marks the first time Columbus has won back-to-back games since the first of July.

Columbus and St. Paul continue their six-game series with games Saturday and Sunday. Saturday evening’s first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
