The Columbus Clippers have lost their mojo. They managed just three hits in their 11-3 loss at Lehigh Valley Friday. They fell behind, 5-0, after an inning of play at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, Penn. and were never in the game. It was the Clippers’ fifth straight loss, fourth against the IronPigs.

Lehigh Valley took advantage of six hits and a sacrifice fly to build its first-inning lead. The Clips scored two in the fourth inning on a misplayed throw at first base to make it 5-2, but that’s as close as they would get.

The IronPigs scored four runs in the sixth inning on a lead-off home run from Óscar Mercado and a bases-clearing double from Otto Kemp. Columbus added a run in the seventh when Will Brennan grounded out and brought in Justin Boyd from third base.

Lehigh Valley sealed their win with two runs in the eighth inning on a two-run homer from Cade Fergus, who hit a walk-off bomb the night before to grab the IronPigs’ victory in extra innings.

The IronPigs’ starting pitching in the first four games of the six-game series has been excellent. In Friday’s tilt, Kyle Tyler (2-2) went six innings to earn the win, allowing just one earned run on two hits and striking out eight. The bullpen went the final three innings, allowing only one hit.

Will Dion (0-2) suffered the loss, going 4.2 innings and giving up five runs on nine hits. Reliever Andrew Misiaszek gave up four runs in an inning of work. Catcher David Leon was picked to throw the ninth and gave up two runs.

The teams play again Saturday beginning at 6:35 p.m. Kolby Allard will be on the bump for the Clippers (0-0, 4.86) and will face Alan Rangle (2-0, 3.57).
